One for one is a movement towards eradicating poverty, with a sense of dignity and equity. If one person contributes to another, not just monetarily but also with their time, we’d be able to see a change in the ways of the world, slowly but surely.

Each of us donates £300. That money goes to providing a person in poverty with a tablet and a transformation accelerated education program, which transforms a person from total illiteracy to literacy and graduate-level work capability. We then spend 30 hours of our time, over a 3 year period, to interact and guide that person as she transforms her life, so that she can work towards her aspirations, get illuminated into this new bright world that she has discovered post the transformation.

We rise by lifting othersWe rise by lifting others

"When we set out to help other people, our goal is to make a difference. Making a difference to a campaign, to a group of people, or to a single person, is what makes our efforts worthwhile. The difference you make could be tangible or something less obvious. Sometimes we’ll never know the difference we’ve made to another person and their life.
It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed."

Napoleon Hill

Leading by exampleA person in poverty, with low or zero literacy /education.

A person who was in complete darkness of the ways of the world, today is able to speak fluently and manages to read and write the English language, use computers, be digitally aware, be “work-ready” and with a high degree of ethics and personal capabilities.

Imagine someone not knowing how to read or ...write, someone not able to tell time from a watch, someone whose future is bleak, with no chance of being able to ever move out of the hell of poverty – imagine that someone finding a magical route to literacy, to a life of dignity, a life of aspiration and possibility – in just 6-9 months.

The Big PictureThe Big
Picture

At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. And the poorest 40 per cent of the world’s population accounts for 5 per cent of global income, whereas, the richest 20 per cent accounts for three-quarters of world income. The facts and figures may continue to plague our minds, but here is where we can stop ...sympathizing and start to empathize, and ACT.
People do not choose the lives they are born into and have a minimal choice in the tools available to make the best of the few opportunities that they maintain. People who live below the poverty line struggle with hunger, indebtedness, education gaps continuously and cyclically.
Established in 2020, One for One is committed to breaking this vicious cycle and has an audacious goal to end global poverty.
In partnership with Head Held High and SEWA, One for One believes in a world of abundance where each individual is able to lead a complete contented life, with one’s head held high.

Details of how this all works

The donor aka Guide supports the beneficiary aka Champion monetarily along with his time and guidance. Once the Champion is transformed into a capable, literate person, then the Guide and Champion are connected.
They meet once a month via video calls over numerous sessions where they interact with each other and build a rapport together and start working towards the development of the champion, by understanding his /her strengths and weaknesses and by encouraging and motivating him/ her based on his/her likes and dislikes.
Over time, the Champion evolves, learns even more, grows the possibilities as a person and as a micro-entrepreneur, makes enough so that she AND her family may be able to lead a life of dignity, going forward.

Why will this work? Why will this work?

We believe that if each of us looks out for just one other person, monetarily as well as emotionally, we would be able to eradicate poverty from the face of our planet. This is founded on the principles of empathy, equity and transformative action. We became a part of a community of people who strongly believe that the world should be a more equitable place.

With £300, 30 hours over 3 years, we make it our mission to transform a person's life and help the entire family to move out of poverty.
